Business-Valuation with Michael Carnegie

    Join us October 24th for a short evening seminar with Michael Carnegie on Business-Valuation. In this seminar, Mike will make a 45-minute presentation on business valuation. This presentation will be open and interactive, so please feel free to ask questions as we proceed. Questions that can be answered quickly will be done immediately. Those that require a more time-consuming response will be deferred to the 15 minute formal Q&A. Mike will remain at the end of the formal proceedings for those who wish to continue the discussion.As a very brief overview, Mike will delve into the following topics:Why the value of a business might need to be determined;The common approaches and methods used;A very high-level, but often employed metric (formula);How businesses become more valuable over time;An overview of the strategies entrepreneurs can employ to achieve the goal of creating a more valuable business.More about Michael:Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Mike graduated from McMaster University in 1988 with a BComm. At McMaster, he was on the varsity water polo team and was captain of the swim team. Upon graduation, Mike entered the accounting profession and became a C.A. in 1991. Mike became a Chartered Business Valuator in 1997 and a partner of Taylor Leibow in 1998, where he was the Practice Leader of the Business Valuation and Litigation Support Department for the next 21 years.At the end of 2018, Mike voluntarily withdrew from the partnership at Taylor Leibow to take a different life path. He stayed busy with four part-time jobs and two volunteer positions, including head coach of the Ancaster Alligators Swim Team and faculty member in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University.Mike now splits his time between Ancaster (part of Hamilton) and Collingwood. Mike founded Wyldewood Cove Consulting Inc. in Collingwood in October, 2022. He was looking for office space for his new company and joined the Collingwood Foundry in November. He looks forward to continue making local business connections in the accounting, legal, finance, and entrepreneurial sectors.
